The film follows a day in the life of Eddie Mannix (Brolin) a fixer in 1950s Hollywood tasked with solving problems faced by the cast and crew at Capitol Pictures.

Among them are a frustrated director (Ralph Fiennes), a singing and dancing cowboy (Tatum) and a gorgeous swimmer (Johansson).

But his greatest challenge arises when Baird Whitlock (Clooney), a famous actor slated to appear in a new prestige picture entitled Hail Caesar, is kidnapped for ransom by a mysterious group calling themselves The Future.

Coupling a hilarious look-back at the inner workings of Hollywood's Golden Age with a mysterious kidnapping on the side, “Hail, Caesar!” is also said to be part of the Coen brothers' “Numbskull Trilogy” where Clooney famously plays a fool, after “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” (2000) and “Intolerable Cruelty” (2003).
