Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) chief executive officer Izham Ismail said the armed forces team, Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM), accounted for the bulk of the salaries.

He said the team collectively owed 15 players some RM3.7 million.

The remaining RM477,000 payment to five Kelantan Football Association (Kafa) players and another RM220,000 was claimed by Felda United (FUFC) player Azrul Ahmad.

"Up to now ATM has not made any effort to solve this problem and pay the salaries it owed players," Izham said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

For ATM players, Izham said it involved six months salary, adding that the five Kelantan players who made the claims were no longer with the club.

"Until today, there has been no communication between the teams and PFAM," he said.

He was disappointed with FAM’s procedure in dealing with players' complaints over salaries, saying that it took 100 days for FAM’s status committee to attend to them.

"This is very bad for the players and others who want to seek solutions from the FAM’s status committee," he said.

However, he said players would not go on strike.

“Going on strike is an option, but there is room for discussion for the clubs and players,” he said. – February 9, 2016.
