Zahid who is also Umno vice-president said the move would add more "colour" to the political landscape of the country and help the people mature in the political field.

"This will also improve the political scenario of the country and there will be more democracy and choice for the people," he told reporters at a special meeting with leaders of four Umno branches in the Bagan Datoh Umno division today.

Zahid said this when commenting on PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan's announcement on Thursday regarding the party's proposal to form another coalition like Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan.

An announcement of the new pact is expected on March 16.

Zahid said PAS's decision showed that the party had been used as a "carrier" by DAP throughout its presence in the opposition pact.

"I hope people will realise that DAP is nothing more than a parasite like 'termites' that can ruin the entire structure of the democratic system of a country.

"I do not intend to interfere but the new development is an eye opener," said Zahid who is also Bagan Datoh Umno division chief.

He urged Umno members at all levels to work hard without expecting any returns and device strategies to win the hearts of the people.

"I hope we are not just contented to watching the political scenario from outside but building a strong foundation from within is the basis for strength." – Bernama, March 12, 2016.
