Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said today the injured seven men and three women were in stable condition, and that their injuries included fractured bones.

"Three of them are under treatment at Saudi Arabian hospitals and six, at the Tabung Haji Medical Centre, while one person has been allowed to return to the hotel," he told a news conference at the TH Complex in Kelana Jaya.

Jamil Khir said Tabung Haji (TH) was working with the Southeast Asian Muasassah (pilgrims management body) to look for the six missing pilgrims – two men and four women.

"They have been identified. Based on our assumption and experience, they may be in the mosque or would be performing certain rituals or would be returning to the hotels later," he said.

Malaysian haj delegation chief Datuk Syed Saleh Syed Abdul Rahman said TH would conduct room-to-room checks to ascertain the number of Malaysian involved in the tragedy.

He said affected pilgrims' families and next of kin in Malaysia had been notified about the tragedy.

"A crane collapsed on the Grand Mosque during a sandstorm and heavy rain after the Asar prayer today. The crane fell on the saie area and part of the tawaf area.”

Families in Malaysia can contact the Tabung Haji hotline at 03-62071919.

In Kuala Lumpur, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the government would provide immediate aid to the injured pilgrims.

"I understand that several Malaysian pilgrims were injured. Aid will be provided as fast as possible," Najib said on his Twitter account today.
