Its exterior is reminiscent of bakeries in Europe, with earthy walls that swiftly conjure up an air of warmth and large glass windows through which you can feast your eyes on colourful treats that will have you salivating in no time.

Coupled with the coffee kiosk beside the bakery-restaurant’s main entrance, it’s easy to see why the newest branch of this culinary house has no trouble attracting a large following.

The cake house’s interior is just as spectacular, with the aroma of freshly baked goods dancing through the air and vibrant lines of breads, cakes and pastries on display everywhere you look.

This great variety enhances the attractiveness of Moonlight Cake House, of course, but it may also spoil you silly with choice and leave you uncertain about where to begin digging in.

As such, allow us to take the liberty of helping you here by introducing a few of Moonlight Cake House’s culinary creations.

With a freshness that requires them to be consumed as soon as they are purchased to fully indulge in their deliciousness, the sandwiches that are sold at Moonlight Cake House’s attached coffee kiosk should not be taken lightly.

The pastry otak-otak sandwich (RM6.20) epitomises this well, matching the seductive flavour of succulent otak-otak with the crispness of fresh vegetables and the crumbliness of two rich pastry pieces.

The crispy chicken sandwich (RM6.20) does the same, but it utilises the juiciness of fresh and crispy fried chicken pieces instead of otak-otak.

Frozen Oreoffee

Moonlight Cake House also makes a good place to attain a quick and fresh pick-me-up drink, thanks to the little coffee kiosk that is situated next to its main entrance.

One such drink is the frozen Oreoffee (RM13.90 for 12oz; RM15.90 for 16oz), which caresses you with a creamy richness that is bound to leave you smiling.

It may not necessarily convey strong notes of Oreo cookies, but it proudly boasts a harmony between the distinct flavours of chocolate and coffee that you can easily appreciate.

Living up to its name, Moonlight Cake House unsurprisingly parades a vast range of cakes to be enjoyed.

One of its bestsellers would be the French banana (RM10.40) cake, which is a suitable definition of the terms “dense” and “moist’.

While this multi-layered dessert alternates between notes of banana and chocolate, its most decadent component is the thick layer of banana cream in the middle that is both sugary and fruity. Tying all this sinfulness together is a base that is packed with walnuts, and this layer adds a bold nuttiness and crunch to this sweet delicacy.

One of Moonlight Cake House’s more unconventional creations, the Danish BBQ cheese (RM4.75) may appear to be a simple establishment of baked cheese and flaky pastry on the surface.

Upon biting into it, though, you will find that it hides a hefty layer of a hearty barbecued chicken paste that is juicy, flavourful and slightly sweet, creating a nice contrast against the savouriness of the cheese that blankets the pastry.

Green tea Swiss roll

Lovers of green tea, rejoice! This child of Moonlight Cake House will delight you shamelessly.

The green tea Swiss roll (RM11.60) is a rich dessert that revolves primarily around the distinct flavour of green tea.

This flavour is paired with chunky servings of red beans and a creamy centre that is light and fluffy without being overwhelmingly sweet.

One bite is enough to flood your imagination with images of yourself enjoying this cake on a cool evening in Japan, paired with a warm cup of green tea.
