From February 12-14 thousands of book lovers, rare book dealers and scholars will converge at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, southern California for the 49th California International Antiquarian Book Fair. Recognized as one of the world's largest exhibition of antiquarian books, this year's theme will be "A Wonderland of Books" in honor of the 150th anniversary of the publication of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" with a special exhibition devoted to the author.

The book fair gives visitors an opportunity to view, learn about and purchase rare books, manuscripts, autographs, graphics and photographs. It feature collections from 200 booksellers from the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers who will represent five centuries of printing. Books on display will cover numerous areas of interest including the history of travel and exploration, early science and medicine, classic literature, art, modern first editions, as well as children's and illustrated books.

This year's special "Alice in Wonderland" exhibition will feature books, illustrations, papers and original items from the Lewis Carroll Special Collection at the University of Southern California Doheny Library. The collection contains over 3,000 rare books, manuscripts and objects created by or about Charles Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll. Visitors will get a chance to view Carroll's drawings of Alice and a first edition of the classic book. There will also be collectors editions on display with illustrations by artists such as Salvador Dali, Mary Blair's 1951concept drawing for Walt Disney Studios, as well as contemporary visions of Alice in comic books, Japanese Manga comics and even video games.

Individual dealers will be selling many different editions of "Alice in Wonderland" and other Wonderland-inspired works for collectors.

Sunday, February 14 is Discovery Day when attendees have the opportunity to present up to 3 items to experts for a free examination.
